For my digital photos, I back up to external hard drive as soon as I've sorted/catalogued the stuff. Then once there's enough to burn a DVD, they get put on that too. Backup your backups! LOL

You're right Shopical. That's why you should always make two copies of a disk if you use DVD for backups and replace them with new every two years to be somehow safe.

Sony already have the backing of all but one of the major movie labels. I think Toshiba only have one or two for HD DVD.

Depends on where you bought the player - buy the DVD's from that country too. Sometimes the DVD players are multi-region anyway so this won't matter.

Toshibs will launch the first HD-DVD in Europe on 15th November at £400 (599 euro), and two days later Sony will launch the PS3 with Blue-ray drive built in.
