Hey Crowdstorm folks,

I'm looking to buy an MP3 player, and I've really no idea what the main things to look for are, or which are the best players.

If anyone could give me some brief guidelines as to how to compare MP3 players, I'd be *really* grateful. In particular, I really want to know if iPods are actually the best, or if it's just a brand/trend thing.

Ta muchly

sure Ciaron.. Probably the key things I would look for in an MP3 player would be:

-size (physical)
**think about whether you want a really compact one that fits in your pocket or wouldn't mind it slightly larger which would mean that you would get more songs on it...

-size (capacity)
**How many songs you can fit on it. This can vary from about 512k to 60gb+. Imagine that your average song will take up a couple of mb and that means that 1gb would fit about 400-500 songs on it.

-music formats played and how to buy / load it up
**Look for something that can play MP3's which is the most common format. The trick here is where you can buy the music from. If you want to use iTunes then you have to get an ipod, but if you don't mind going to other sites like allofmp3 or wippet, then you will be able to download MP3's as usual and use on any machine

Lastly, you may want to consider if you want anything else like video playback or longer battery life.
