I can't work out whether this is launched yet but the aim is to offer one Zune player - a 30GB model with a 7.6cm colour screen and FM radio that comes in black, white or brown.

The angle Microsoft are pitching this with is that it will have wireless capability built in so that you can share / beam music to your friends Zune, which then disappears after a three plays. They will concentrate more on this rather than having an iTunes store equivalent.

Personally I think this has the potential of a great idea IF the music does not disappear but rather gives the perso who has received the content from a friend to be able to purchase it after a trial period - at a discounted rate. Link in skype functionality and they MIGHT just be able to make an impact?

What do you think?

Does any think it strange they are offering it in brown?

One thing that has interested me is the WiFi connectivity that allows Zune users to send songs for 3 plays or 3 days (which ever comes first). There going to use it both as a way of increasing awareness and thus sales, but also for unsigned bands to link in with.

I see the potential for it to be both annoying and quite cool.

It's good innovation, Wifi should have been in the recent iPod announcement.

About time someone took on the iPod, after all it is not the best MP3 player out there but all the alternates are from little known brands (apart from Sony).

WiFi may sound great but it's a gimmick on an MP3 player, how about a DAB tuner or even better a freeview tuner! now that'd be a gadget.

I agree - how many times do you and your friends get together with an ipod / zune to swap tracks? DAB Tuner - now there's an idea LP!

I think you're missing the point slightly.

Being with a group of friends (bare with me this is a bit far fetched) who all have Zunes, the Wifi would be a great way to introduce people to new bands and tracks they like.

Link in with the music store for purchase. Also if you have a subscription, being able to ly on the sofa surfing music to listen to over the Wifi would be sweet.

DAB would be awesome though, I do agree.
