Help - which is the better present for my 7 year old son? Nintendo DS or Sony PSP? He currently has a very old Gameboy (bought off ebay) - he likes computer games etc. It would mainly be for games. What would be best for him bearing in mind his age - it would need to be reasonably robust as well?

Any answers - please keep them simple. My knowledge of this area is somewhat limited!

I would definitely go for the Nintendo DS Lite 100%. The games are simpler, more fun, and more suitable for someone

I would definitely go for the Nintendo DS Lite 100%. The games are simpler, more fun, and more suitable for someone less than 10 years old (although even adults can have a lot of fun). He will like games such as "cars" from Disney, super mario bros, and even brain train maybe..

Yeh - each are good but if you had to choose between the two - Nintendo DS Lite every time!

I've got a PSP & prefer it to my daughters DS Lite. However based on you wanting something for your 7 year old, the DS will be the best bet (my 8 year old manages it with no probs).

I gotta say I love my PSP, but my 12 and 17 year old nephews swear by their Nintendo DS. It doesn't stop them wanting to use my PSP when they visit, though ! I reckon it's all down to the games, really. Bear in mind the DS isn't up to videos and music in the same way as the PSP.
