I just purchased this as a Today's Deal for $269. I got it within 2 days of purchase even with free shipping so I got it today. Hook up and set up was easy. I suggest if you buy it, update the software before you use it. Updating using the CD method took about 30 minutes from download to update completion. This blu-ray player replaced a samsung upconversion unit and is intended as a second blu-ray player as I already own the PS3 80 gig. I was impressed by the performance of the player. Anyone who says that a picture from an upcovert player compares with the picture from a blu-ray player is fooling themselves. The picture was bright and detailed and this was on a 32 inch Samsung that can display 1080i. I own several Samsung products including several LCDs and DVDs and the reliability has been 100% so I trust that this unit will perform for many years. I played the recent blu-ray Die Hard movie and it performed perfectly and the sound (DTS) was outstanding from a 5 speaker system. Notice that all of the reviews on this unit are several months old. This review is from a recent buyer and I suggest that you buy this unit with the caveat that the price will continue to drop as it has already dropped $30 from the original price in the last 2 days so wait until Black Friday. These will fly off the shelves then at around $200. But then you will have a problem finding it. Many of the reviews knock this unit for only being a 1.0 unit and not 2.0, well I have the PS3 and it will play 2.0 blu-ray. The 2.0 blu-ray include extras that most users can and will do without. But if you need the extras, buy the PS3 along with the largest LCD you can afford. However, if you want a basic blu-ray player or a second blu-ray player then buy this unit.
